SHANGHAI FORTRESS is another big bucks science fiction blockbuster from mainland China, but as with many such films it's a definite case of style over substance. Of course, the original idea was to draw on the enormous success of 'The Wandering Earth', a movie which cannot exactly be called a masterpiece either, but which started a serious sci-fi boom in China.
