Award-winning director Callum Macrae's new feature documentary tells the story of the death of eleven innocent people killed by the British Army on a Catholic estate in Belfast in 1971, and the fight by their relatives and survivors to discover the truth. The Ballymurphy Precedent Told through witness testimony, forensic investigation, innovative reconstruction techniques and powerful, engaging storytelling, this documentary film tells of the killings of ten innocent Catholics in August 1971 in Belfast, Northern Ireland, at the hands of an elite British Parachute Regiment. The Ballymurphy Precedent tells the unknown story of the death of eleven innocent people at the hands of the British Army in a Catholic estate in Belfast in 1971. Between Monday the 9th and Wednesday the 11th of August 1971, the Parachute Regiment of the British Army murdered eleven Irish civilians in the Ballymurphy district of Belfast.

This is a massacre that few have heard of, yet it was one of the most significant events in the Troubles.

It will be shown on 1 August during the Féile an Phobail at St Mary’s College, and on 30 August in many cinemas across Ireland, North and South, and in Glasgow and London.
