Epicurus (341-270 BC) was an ancient Greek philosopher known today (particularly in skeptical circles) for providing what some tend to believe is a knockdown argument against belief in God.Epicurus’ argument focuses on the problem of evil and how it might present a big problem for a classical concept of God generally embraced by Christian theists, Then he is not omnipotent.
In a broad sense, it is a system of ethics embracing every conception or form of life that can be traced to the principles of his philosophy. The “Epicurean paradox” or “Riddle of Epicurus” is a version of the problem of evil.

It wasn't purported as a challenge for theists to debunk it. (The souls being created to exist in Hell with no say in the matter) As it is we have been given a choice to be evil or not. For all we know Epicurus didn’t even come up with it; it was a popular ancient meme with his name attached, much like the Prayer of St. Francis.
That came later. It has never been called the Epicurean Trilemma.
Also, tuk, if "suffering" is the term we should consider, rather than evil, for the excellent points brought up earlier, then simply replace the word "evil" in the paradox with the word "suffering", and the implications remain the same.
